Vishnu (India)

One of Hinduism’s most prominent and worshipped gods, the protector of the world and restorer of moral order. He is Hinduism’s peaceful, gentle, and compassionate god. Vishnu, which means “all-pervading”, is a member of the trimurti (holy trinity) along with Brahma and Shiva. Often depicted as having blue skin and four arms, his hands express dominion over the four directions of space and also symbolize the four ashrams or stages of human life: quest for knowledge; family life; retreat into the forest; renunciation. In each of us, Vishnu’s presence resides in the silent space that exists between two consecutive thoughts. When we are able to inject in this space our intention to create or achieve, the result is the fulfillment of our desires in resonance with the creative rhythms of nature.
